For those that have been following my “Recently Viewed” listing, I’ve made a couple of small changes. You may notice (now), and will continue to see a “key” to designate some of the movies on the list.
I am only designating “premium” viewings – either those seen in the theater, or that I have received from a subscription service. I’m not sweating the designation of movies seen on TV/cable channels, that are in personal collections, or other people have ordered – if I’ve paid for it, I’m listing it. With that said, the “T” stands for “Theatre”, and anything designated with an “N” is from “Netflix”… and will cover any other services, should I decide to add or change to them in the future.
I do have some TV series that I will cycle through my Netflix queue, so I may make some notes (as posts) as I cycle through them… or I might not (honestly, it all depends on how I’m struck by the shows, and any affiliated hype)
Well… as you’ve been able to read, there have been some major changes going on – both personal and here on the Blog. I think the personal stuff has been discussed enough (for now) so I’ll stick mostly with the blog-related.
1) Tags – I have gone through and managed to put tags on all of the old posts, and should have them going forward. While this may be useful in the future, it mainly derived from me wanting easy access to anything I wrote about my wife…
2) I’ve been cheating a little on my “Currently Reading” – I’ve actually been reading a few other things besides Joe Hill’s book. for the last couple of months. Honestly, I haven’t opened his book since March 11/12-ish. I DO plan on finishing it, however… I’m just having to build myself back up to it. Along the same lines, I’ve acquired a few other books as well, so I won’t have a shortage when I start churning through material.
3) Side projects – I’ve started (and linked) two other blogs to this one. The first is “The Jennifer Project” – for those that knew my wife and feel like sharing their thoughts, memories and other experiences. As of today (5-15-07), I have not widely talked about it, which is why it looks a little bare, but it’s there!
The other blog is for fiction prompts and writing. Part of the original idea here was going to be for putting writing projects up (snippets and threads, some random ideas and prompt responses, etc.), before I started and evolved this into more of a general journal. The fiction blog is intended to be just that – prose, poetry or other creative endeavors, for the sake of creativity.
4) Future projects: I am in the process of converting, both literally, and figuratively (for now we’ll deal with the figurative side 🙂 … For years, I have been anti-Mac – not because they were bad products, but the compatability wasn’t there (too many other things were on PCs that were not available on Macs, that it didn’t make much sense to me)… Now, however, with the compatability of devices (and ESPECIALLY portable devices/media), the line and stigma has become blurred. Jenn and I had been talking about getting a Mac for a while, and within the last month, I have started the conversion process – I got a Mac Book.
The relevance for “Future Projects”, you may ask? As I get more comfortable with the software and options available with a Mac, I will be developing more things – video snippets and possible podcasts, or just plain photo pages/blogging, or musical bits… Consider this the notice of things that may come down the pipe in the future…. “That’s right – you heard it HERE first!”
Ahh… now ’tis time to return to work for a bit… to get ready for lunch, before going to lunch… oh, to be back to writing…
Now that March has arrived, there is a new buzz going ’round. Spring will be here soon, and there will soon be an earlier day (courtesy of the change in Daylight Savings). I am able to report a little more than yesterday, as I am not having to train this afternoon (yeah!).
My wife has an appointment tomorrow – hopefully she will be able to get her cast, despite being classified as “non-weight bearing” for a few more weeks. She’s been anxious for some stability, and to get out of the house – there’s only so much “Anna Nichole” drama that one can stand in one day – let alone the last two weeks!
I have not finished my currently active book (Ceasar’s Way), but I have been making headway in the book. Hopefully, I should be able to finish either tonight or tomorrow. I am looking forward to changing that part of the site after it’s been there for almost two months. Two months! I already have four more books lined up and ready to go… I’m thinking the next one will be Dan Brown’s Angels & Demons. I figure, I’ve read DaVinci, may as well go back to the first book in the series.
Be on the lookout for a few new items. I’ve been considering adding a “Routine” field… links to my daily routine and websites that I regularly visit. Consider it a little bit of insight while I can still have some fun 😉
Hey, how about this! FOUR posts in a single day!
We are all creatures of habit – from the things that we do every day, including our foods (what we eat, and from which restaurants), our clothes, and even our words that we use (right, um, like, ya’know?)
I say this as I have developed a pretty easy routine for my days (at least, it was easy until we started the new year and had some pretty aggressive training going on trying to get the two new folks in the office ready for their own desks).
My comment in an earlier post about Wil Wheaton is intentional… as cheking out WWdN is part of my routine. I pop over to his blog, and that of someone I went to school with a few years ago while I was an undergrad – he was a grad student. Of all of the other people that I had been in writing classes with, for some reason his was the only name that seemed to stick with me (weird, since the only time we ever talked was during the class, which only met one night a week…)
I also check my email (four active accounts that I check regularly, and two others that I check about once a month just to keep active. I check my bank accounts for any processed transactions, and maybe do a little surfing to check up on some news or entertainment stories. I also play the word games at USA Today (the short ones – I had been doing the crosswords and Soduku, but gave them up as I would often end up working on them for well over an hour or so (depending on call volume)).
Usually, after doing all of that, half of the morning has passed, and I settle into my chair to begin working on my stories or other projects. Lately, however, I have spent more time doing extra reading (following Wikipedia links about something I was just reading, etc.) and just getting lost, or plugging away at a few words, but only able to knock out a couple of paragraphs every few days.
My work routine has been thrown off track, and my post-work routine is more of a guideline, as each day and each week is a little bit different (read: plan something, but end up taking longer to do them it than planned, or getting side-tracked in recreational activities at the house – (just one more try at this level… well, just one more, now. Um, I know I said thirty minutes ago that was going to be my last attempt, but this will really be my last one, honest!)
But we each follow our own routines… I’ve told you most of mine, now think about yours…
Nothing major accomplisehed yesterday. We had our last “Wednesday Night Social Club” dinner for the year last night and did not get home until around 10pm, and in bed by 11… no words logged, no races run, and only marginal progress in my current reading.
About that… As you may (or, likely, may not – as I have not really, until this point been screaming the availability of the blog) have noticed, there have been some changes to the layout of the site… I’ve added a “Reading” and a “Movie” listing… recently processed items for the sake of adding some fun stuff to the site.
The “Reading” section – as titled – is the current work that is being read… I figured I would just display the current work, instead of each book in order to keep things simple… I may do a “year ending” style post to recap works for the year. I think it would be interesting to see the styles of books, not to mention the volume that is processed in a year…
In the “Movie” listings, I am just displaying the “Recent 10”, for much the same reason. There are, however, other notes that will appear heavily in the movie listing… “Again” means I have seen the movie before… however, if it is a “theme” movie, either aired or viewed several times in the span of about a month, multiple viewings will only be listed once (ex. Elf, being a Christmas movie, will likely be seen several times, since we are in the Christmas season, etc.). Also, for the sake of clarity, I am listing the release year in order to differentiate between versions (in the case of remakes like Dick & Jane).
I may, eventually, start spinning these categories into posts, with a brief review… but for now, there shall be only lists…
Well… since it appears that all of Blogger will eventually be ported over to Google accounts, I figured I may as well change mine over…
I actually debated this for a bit, reviewing everything that I could for about an hour or so to see if it would be worth it…
BUT, as I put it before – “Change is (permanent)”…
