Repurposing – The Orpheum Theatre (New Bedford, Mass)

Theaters are interesting spaces – especially if they are ones where actual performances happened (not just movie houses). There’s something more personal about a space that housed live theatre. Which is where this week’s entry comes in. The Orpheum has been closed since 1959.

As this is also the start of a new year, I feel it only fair to point out that there is an organization that has been working to restore and reopen the facility. For more information, go here.

Heard you missed us… we’re back!

When I started drafting this, the opening lines of Van Halen’s “Hot for Teacher” kept running through my mind, hence the title… What started as an unintended break, for reasons, became a longer stint away from the site, for more reasons. As the hiatus just kept extending, I had hoped to resume activities here back around Thanksgiving. When that, obviously, did not happen, I decided to scratch the rest of the year, and work toward resuming things with the new year.

Which brings us to now… the start of 2015. While this post is brief, I will be offering some updates on why the last half of 2014 was as…distracted? disconnected? here as it was.

Until then, Happy New Year! May it bring you good fortune, enlightenment, and whatever else you may be looking for.
