Weekend…

Watched Hellboy on Friday, and was actually both pleasantly surprised, and a little disappointed… The movie was good, don’t get me wrong… I guess I was expecting a little more… the effects were good, but I felt a little out of the story line – maybe it was the effects of a long week, but it was between 1/3 to 1/2 into the movie before I really knew/understood the over-arcing story line. I’m still looking forward to seeing Hellboy II, and am now thankful to have watched the first before seeing the second…

On a side note, in flipping through channels over the weekend, we landed on Ang Lee’s Hulk, which, while stylistically cool, we laughed. Part of it was just due to the coloring (differences in the CGI renderings I can deal with), but some of the minor detail points… Specifically, we were laughing about the secquence where he was fleeing from the lab after just emerging. I remember the animated series from the 80’s, and yes, the Hulk could really (really) jump, but some of it just seems a little over done in the movie. And when he lands in the desert… no trails… There is a sequence where he lands and rolls down a dune, and there is no sign of terrain impact (nor were there any signs when he would land after his “mega jumps”)…

Otherwise, the weekend was spent pulling up carpet (and staples), and trying to recover from tired/sore muscles… Time to get back to work…
